A LETTER TO OUR PATIENTS

May 8, 2020

Our office will re-open on Monday, May 11!!

As we move into the next phase of the COVID-19 situation, we have been given the “all clear” to resume non-emergent eye health and vision care.  For the past 7 weeks, we’ve been preparing for the time when we could resume “normal” patient care.  We’re incorporating social distancing, increasing disinfection efforts, and adding personal protective equipment.  These changes are for your protection, as well as ours.

Here are some of the changes and policies that will be in place:

ENTRY INTO OUR OFFICE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY...
We are not accepting walk-in traffic.  Please call us at ‪618-233-1270 to schedule an appointment if you need to enter the office for any reason - an eye exam, frame repair or adjustment, purchase or pick up glasses, or any other reason.

SCHEDULING...
We are significantly reducing the number of exams per day to minimize crowding, and we’ve set aside Fridays for vulnerable and high-risk patients.  We are extending the Drs’ schedules and adding additional Saturday hours.  We beg your patience as we expect having difficulty scheduling patients in a timely manner.

WHILE YOU ARE IN OUR OFFICE…

The “waiting room” now is our parking lot.  When you arrive to our facility, please call us (618-233-1270) from your car.  Our staff will ask you some COVID-19 screening questions and check you in while you are in your car.  Soon thereafter, our pre-tester will call you back to start your visit over the phone, then invite you to come into the office.

Please wear a face covering while in our office. We realize that social distancing between patients and staff isn't possible at all times during your visit, so we encourage compliance with the Governor’s Executive Order by wearing a mask. Thank you for your cooperation!

We are also limiting appointments to “patient only.”  Please do not bring companions with you.  Your spouse, friend, or driver is more than welcome to wait in the car until your appointment is finished.  Patients requiring special assistance or minor children may be accompanied by only 1 caregiver. We must insist that siblings and extra guests not come along for appointments at this time.

We have always maintained universal precautions and sanitation procedures with every patient, but we have added extra sanitizing procedures and personal protection measures. We want you to be comfortable knowing that our facilities and equipment will be thoroughly disinfected prior to your arrival, and that our staff will be diligent in frequent hand hygiene and the use of face masks.

While we are making an effort to schedule patients in such a manner to limit interaction, we ask that you do your part by maintaining 6 feet of social distancing while in our office whenever possible.  We also respectfully ask that we keep interactions to a minimum by limiting small talk and socialization to expedite your time in the office and minimize exposure.

OPTICAL DISPENSARY SAFETY...
All frames touched or tried on will be set aside and sanitized before returning to our displays. We ask that you not remove or replace any frames from our displays - allow our opticians to handle them to ensure that every frame on the board has been properly disinfected.

CONTACT LENS ORDERS …

All contact lens orders will be shipped directly to patients’ homes.  For now, we are waiving all shipping charges, regardless of the number of boxes ordered.

Our entire staff is dedicated to your safety and health, and we are thankful to be able to return to providing your eye care. We appreciate you being a part of our practice!  We also appreciate your understanding and patience as we try to provide the caring and competent service you are accustomed to in a way that is mindful of a public health crisis.  We look forward to seeing you soon!
